THE END!

Welcome
Helicopters are really amazing flying vehicles.

Did you know that a helicopter can back up meanwhile a plane can only go left, right or forward?

Scroll down to learn how helicopters fly!

Lift and Thrust
In order to fly, an object must have "lift."

A helicopter's rotor blades produce lift by slicing through the air at an angle.

The engine produces a pushing force, ‘Thrust,’ so that air flows over the wings!

Drag and Weight
The helicopter's wings create changes in surrounding air pressure.

With thrust, helicopters overcome drag...

and with lift, helicopters over come their weight!

Opposite reactions
Combined, these 4 forces push the air down.

This causes the helicopter to go....

up!
